William "Bill" James Frankish

June 2, 1944 — February 22, 2025

Gravenhurst

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of William "Bill" James Frankish on February 22, 2025, at the age of 80. Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, cherished by many.

Beloved husband of Margaret Rose "Peg" (Weldon). Loving father of the late Kellie (2023), Charlotte (James), and Amy (Richard). Proud grandfather to Zara, Sofie, Emmie, Rylie, Jase, and Willow. Bill was the son of the late William and Lorraine Frankish and brother to Edward Charles "Teddy," who passed away at the age of 11 from leukemia. He will also be deeply missed by his faithful furry companion, Daisy.

Bill was born in June 1944 in Toronto – the product of Flight Sargeant William B. Frankish and his wife Lorraine.

Educated in Toronto, he joined an insurance company in 1964 and has continually pursued the insurance field until his retirement. In June 1980, he resigned from the country’s 6th largest insurance company for which he managed the areas of Windsor, Chatham, and Sarnia, and purchased the Slater-Barkley Insurance Agency now known as Muskoka Insurance Brokers Ltd.

Bill’s many accomplishments include Associate Director at the Insurance Institute of Canada and the Insurance Institute of Ontario; Associate Teacher at Georgian College and St. Clair College; member of the Institute Brokers Association of Ontario. Bill enjoyed his association in Gravenhurst with St. James Anglican Church, Curling Club, Masonic Lodge, and the Rotary Club.

Bill has called Muskoka his second home since he was a child visiting the Cozzi’s Cottage and was now proud to leave out the word “second”. During his 33 years of owning Muskoka Insurance Brokers, he enjoyed the friendships made through networking, enjoyed many games of golf and glasses of red wine.

Bill had a passion for the outdoors fishing with the Iwasiw family and boating on Georgian Bay with the Fox family. Golfing with his older and newer friends was his passion – oh the stories he would tell! Bill was also a dedicated sports fan and a world traveller.

When his grandchildren were born, he could not wipe the smile off his face. He loved to spend as much time with them as possible.

Bill was an exceptional person and will be missed by all his family and friends.

A man of deep sensitivity and faith, Bill found comfort in his relationship with the Lord and confided in a friend that he was at peace should the Lord call him home.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Cavill Funeral Home, Gravenhurst, on Monday, March 3, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at St. James Anglican Church on Tuesday, March 4, at 11:00 AM.

Bill will be fondly remembered for his kindness, devotion, and unwavering love for his family and community.

Memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or the OSPCA greatly appreciated.
