It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Henderson on Saturday, July 31, 2021. Beloved husband and best friend to his wife Elizabeth Henderson for 20 years. Loving father to Debra Grech (Tony); Nicholas Henderson. Predeceased by his son David Henderson. Loving stepfather to Corinne Teal (Chris) and Ryan Teal (Lucie). He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Aaron and Matthew Grech, Nicholas Henderson; Jakob Kramer, Adrianna Teal and Nathan McNeil. Great grandchildren include Marcel Grech, Landon and Lennox Kramer. He will be missed by all other family members and friends.
He was a caring friend to many, young and old. He was appreciated for his candor, generosity and kindness. He loved to travel around the world to visit new places. He was admired for his great knowledge which he loved to share with all who would listen.
In his younger days, he served as a police officer with the Kincardine Police Force. Later he went on to work at ITT Cannon as a sales representative for military grade connectors. In 1996, he moved back to his favorite place Bala, Ontario where he ran and operated the Bala General Store for 14 years with his wife. When he sold the store, he worked part time for a lawyer in Bracebridge and later worked part time for a hardware store in Bala. He really loved people and could talk your ear off.
Wally's sense of humor, positive outlook on life and focus on enjoying everyday will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew him.
Thank you to the staff at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital ICU for your compassion and for taking good care of him.
