Bill Hopcraft, 84, of Gravenhurst, Ontario, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 28th, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Born in Sprucedale, Ontario, to parents Victor and Agnes (née Todd), Bill attended elementary school in Sprucedale and high school in Burks Falls, Ontario, and went on to enjoy working with Canada Post in Gravenhurst for 25 years.
Bill will be remembered as a thoughtful and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who cherished more than anything the extensive time he was able to spend with family over the years. His great sense of humour and generous nature touched all those who knew him. Bill enjoyed any opportunity to travel with friends and family, to take in a Habs, Jays or Raptors game (or any number of other sporting events) or to tackle the challenge of picking up a new skill or hobby with his signature patience and persistence.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary (née Graves), their two daughters, Kathy (Ed) Lippert and Sue Totzke, grandchildren Seth Lippert (Zor Lee), Joshua Lippert (Miranda Porr), Jordan (Victoria) Totzke, Zachary Totzke (Elyse Tithecott) and Jacob Totzke and great-granddaughters Joy, Brooklynn, Ann and Ainsley. He was predeceased by sisters Grace (Don) Peddie and Merle (Cliff) Tofflemire.
Bill’s family would like to extend a special thank-you to Bill’s diligent care team, including Colleen, Della Dr. Krensky, Dr. O’Shaughnessy and Dr. Whynot.
Donations can be made in Bill’s memory to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge, Ontario or to a charitable organization of your choice.
