Vera Burke

April 2, 1938 — February 14, 2022

Gravenhurst

Passed away peacefully at her home on February 14, 2022 with her daughters by her side.  Reunited with her loving husband Lou (2000) and son, Bradley (2008). She is survived by her daughters Barbara (Joe Pontes) and Brenda (Domenic Iaboni) and daughters in law Stephanie Burke (Jeff Chisolm) and Eileen (late Gerard Burke). Special "Grammy" to Jenna (Ben), Bryan (Sarah), Christopher (Lorinda), Amanda (Paul), Leah (Tristan) and Kendra (Joey) and Great-Grandmother to Brooklyn, Blake, Luke, Leo, Amelia, and Quinn. Preceded in death by her dad (Lawrence Hilliard, 1961), her mom (Sadie Hilliard, 2000), brother (Harold, 1976), Sister (Stella Wilson, 2003), and Brother-in-law (Jim Wilson, 2001).

Mom and Dad enjoyed early retirement from Esso Home Comfort and moved from Cooksville to Gravenhurst in 1971.  They enjoyed living on Lake Muskoka and travelling in their motorhome.  They were able to travel most of Canada and the US and enjoyed wintering in Florida and Texas until Dad's passing.  Mom then relocated to Pineridge Estates where she made many new friends.  She continued to spend winters in Florida until her health didn't permit in 2017. Mom was an avid card player, attended many events at the Gravenhurst Senior's Centre and the Hahn Hall and was a valued member at all of our family gatherings and special events. She was so proud of her grandchildren and took pride in watching them grow up and start their families.  She loved seeing videos of her great-grandchildren's developments.  We wish to thank her many friends and neighbours who have supported her over the last few years and us, over the last few difficult months.  We would also like to thank the dedicated health professionals at Muskoka Algonquin Health Cenntre, Closing the Gap Heath Services and Helping Hands.  As we say "Goodbye", you will be saying 'Hello" to the many family members who have passed before you.  We will miss you as much as we have missed them!  May you rest in peace until we meet again.

Visitations will be held on Friday, February 18 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM, at Cavill Funeral Home where the funeral will be held in the chapel at 12:00 PM. Interment in Nobleton Cemetery to follow.
