Velda Gilbert

Velda Pearl Gilbert "Aunty" Velda passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2014 in her 98th year at the Leisureworld Muskoka Nursing Home in Gravenhurst with her loving family at her side. Velda "Aunty" was born in Germania, Ontario, the 2nd eldest child to Henry and Rachel (Kerr) Gilbert. She will be missed by her surviving sister Eileen (Gilbert) Dungey of Gravenhurst. She was predeceased by her brothers Lawrence Gilbert of Wahnapitae, and Robert Gilbert of Germania. She was a very special Aunty to her niece Valerie (Eric) Lacroix and to her great nieces Christine (Brent) Loshaw, Connie (Robert) Kennedy, and great nephew Alexander (Samantha) Lacroix. Velda was never married and did not have any children of her own but she loved and was loved by many children including her nieces Linda Gedmintas, Janet Walker, Joanne Gilbert, and her nephews Rodney, Gary, Ivan and Bradley Gilbert. Velda is predeceased by her nephews Vincent Dungey, Glen and Murray Gilbert. The family will receive friends at the Cavill-Turner Funeral Home in Gravenhurst on Monday, February 17, 2014 from 7:00-9:00 p. m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, February 18, 2104 at 11:00 a. m. Spring interment will take place at Mickle Memorial Cemetery, Gravenhurst.
