With Great sadness Rick passed away suddenly at the age of 66
after a brief illness at Royal Victoria Hospital Barrie.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Leslie, his daughter Krista,
sons Kelly, Colin and Jason, his grandchildren Shayne, McKenzie
Brooklyn, Samara and Graydon who all will deeply miss their Poppa.
He is survived by his mother Eleanor Davies (Peacock) and
predeceased by his father Richard C. Davies. He will also be missed
by his sisters Debbie(Mo), Karen(John), Shirley-Mae(Rod),
brother Brad(Sue) and sister-in-law Michelle. As well as many
nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.
Rick was born in Toronto, grew up in Newmarket then moved
to Gravenhurst and spent many years there before settling in Barrie.
He was a very kind, caring and honest person who loved to help
others. He started up mental health support groups in Gravenhurst
and sat on Advisory Boards in the Muskoka area.
He is best known for his love of music - he wrote songs, sang and
played guitar. He played for family, friends, churches and different
events.
The words he wrote in his songs touched and comforted
many, don't think he realized just how many. We still have that
to comfort us.
He will be loved and missed by all,
Since he is a Muskoka boy by heart and loved fishing, he is being
laid to rest there.
Cremation has already taken place. Visitation will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, May 7th at the Cavill Funeral Home 1-215 Bay Street, Gravenhurst where the memorial service will be held in the chapel at 11 AM. A reception will follow at the Gravenhurst Legion. Thank you to the hard working caring nurses and doctors
who cared for him at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (https://cancer.ca/en/), Special Olympics (https://www1.specialolympicsontario.com/donate)or Canadian Mental Health Foundation. (https://ontario.cmha.ca/)
Gone Fishing
I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me,
So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Please send along my fishing pole
For I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole.
Where every day is a day to fish,
To fill your heart with every wish.
Don’t worry, or feel sad for me,
I’m fishin’ with the Master of the sea.
We will miss each other for awhile,
But you will come and bring your smile.
That won’t be long you will see,
Till we’re together you and me.
To all of those that think of me,
Be happy as I go out to sea.
If others wonder why I’m missin’
Just tell ’em I’ve gone fishin’
