Ralph Douglas Hair (April 30, 1947 - December 9, 2023). A competent fisherman, above-average golfer and world-class friend has left us. The third of Fred and Edna Hair’s seven children, Ralph was born in Orillia and raised in the family home on Arthur Street. He attended Park Street Collegiate where, at the height of 5’9”, he distinguished himself as the second-tallest member of the basketball team. They went on to win zero games. After leaving high school, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in Trenton and trained as an Engineering Technologist. While enlisted, he learned some conversational French that is not fit for publication.
After his Air Force service, Ralph worked in the office equipment business, eventually founding R&M Office Supply with his wife Maureen, in Gravenhurst. Before his retirement, Ralph was the owner/operator of the Gravenhurst Sears store.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 40 years, Maureen (Stonestreet), his loving sons Graham (Vanessa) and Todd (Tanya), and his grandchildren Emily, Hunter and Morgan. He is pre-deceased by his siblings Robert (Bud), Noreen (Sam) and Katherine (Kathy), and survived by his siblings Janice, Geraldine, and Muriel.
Ralph was the first guy you called when you needed to laugh, and the first guy you called when you needed a friend. Women loved him, fish feared him, and we’ll all miss him.
