Norma Elaine Mayoh

Norma passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, at the age of 100.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband James (1997), and her cherished son Philip (1995).

Norma is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Deborah Higgs; and her grandchildren: Kristina Davies, Francis Higgs, Fay Higgs (David Goth), Andrew Higgs, Louisa Higgs, Daniel Higgs (Saiphin Higgs), and the late Crystal Higgs (2006) and Angel Higgs-Tuijl (Maarten Tuijl).

She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren: Dylan, Saskia, Cameron (2012), Mya, Kate, Seth, Elliot, Christopher, Grace, Callum, Rammond (2021), and Romeo; and by her great-great-grandchildren: Lyra and Astraea.

Norma was predeceased by her five siblings: Robert, Edna, Ellen, Joan, and Don.

She held a special place in her heart for her nieces Cathy McClinchey, Sandra Loudon and her daughter-in-law Hélène Racicot. As well, her dear friends Glenna Newton-Long and Nola Holmes.

Norma was a devoted homemaker known for her exceptional cooking and love of baking. She found joy in crocheting, gardening, and caring for her pets over the years. She especially enjoyed walking her dogs until it was no longer possible, after which she shared her home with a cherished cat.

She loved to sit by the window, watching birds and the changing beauty of nature. A fan of word games, she spent many happy hours playing Scrabble, solving word searches, and enjoying card games with her sisters.

A gifted singer, Norma delighted in performing songs from musicals of the 1950s and 60s. Her positive spirit, social nature, and radiant smile brought warmth to all who knew her.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Manor, Gravenhurst, and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Bracebridge for their compassionate care.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 26 from 12:00 – 3:00 PM at The Oar Restaurant, 530 Muskoka Rd N, Gravenhurst, ON. Interment will take place on Monday, April 28 at 1:00 PM at Mickle Memorial Cemetery.
