ANDERSON, Mary Rose Peacefully at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in her 101st. year. Mary Rose Anderson (nee Gillan) Beloved wife of the late Robert Henry Anderson who predeceased Mary in 1993. Beloved mother to Sharon Anderson (Scotty MacDonald) of Bala and Brian (Diane) Anderson of Richmond Hill. Mary was born in Toronto on November 30, 1914 to Janet and George Gillan. Mary is the 2nd oldest of 8 children, one sister and 7 brothers; Mary is survived by her brother Francis Gillan of Gravenhurst and predeceased by her brothers; Peter, Bruce, George, Bill, Duncan and Eric Gillan and by her sister Velma Smith. Mary lived in the Bala area all of her life on the Moon River Road. The family owned Silverdale Dairy Farms. She attended Bala Public School and three years in high school also in Bala. After high school Mary went to Toronto where she worked in Langley's Dry Cleaners, then to work at Sayvettes Dress Store. Mary met her husband Robert Henry Anderson at a dance, and they were married in 1945. Mary and Robert had 2 children; Sharon who resides in Bala and Brian of Richmond Hill. Mary was blessed with three grandchildren; Travis Anderson of Toronto, Shaun Anderson of Richmond Hill and Lauren (Brock) Jones also of Toronto and two great grandchildren; Brianna Henry and Logan Anderson. Mary lived in Richmond Hill for 32 years and came back to the Bala area in 1992. She resided there and in Florida until 2004 when she moved to Gravenhurst Manor. Mary was an active member of the Richmond Hill Ladies Auxiliary. Mary started the evening music group at Gravenhurst Manor which was held in the sun porch, playing old and Scottish CD's and was usually in full swing until snack time was over. Mary and Dolly were always the last two to leave, always making sure that the dishes were put away and the lights were turned off. Mary enjoyed knitting, needlework and tending to the flower beds. Mary was a very social person and enjoyed the companionship of the other residents.The family will receive friends at the Cavill-Turner Funeral Home in Gravenhurst on Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 12 noon until time of chapel service at 1:00 p. m. Interment will take place in the Spring of 2015 at the Torrance Cemetery. In memory of Mary, donations to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
