Madeline Shay

Madeline Aileen Shay (nee Heaps) of Gravenhurst and more recently Bracebridge Ontario, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30th 2018 in her 93rd year. She was in her home with her children and grandchildren at her side. Cremation has taken place. The interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Simcoe Ontario her former hometown. Known as "Babe" to her family, she was the youngest of the seven children of Maude and Luke Heaps (Alf, Herb, Dorothy, Ruth, Maudie and Eddie). Madeline was the wife and soul mate of Donald M. Shay (deceased 1982). Mother of Patricia Sheppard/Minter (John), Paul Shay (deceased 1982) and Mary Shay (Jim Froehner). Grandmother of Andrew Sheppard (Cindy Fairbank), Kristen Sheppard (Robert Gardias), Laura Sheppard (Scott O'Neill), Graydon-Paul Sheppard (Kyle Humphrey), Samantha Shay/Lupien (daughter of Paul Shay and Dawn Lupien), Ted and Michael Minter. Great-Grandmother of Maeve, Lila, Will, Cole, Evelyn and Meredith. Dear Aunt of Cathan Shoniker, Bill MacWilliams, Susan Greetham, Peter Devana, Lynne Quattro, Bernie Heaps, Glen Heaps, Vic Heaps, Brian Heaps, Jim Heaps, David Heaps, Ken Daniels and their families. Madeline was a friend to many in the town of Simcoe Ontario, at Pine Ridge, a subdivision in Gravenhurst, at Castle Peak Retirement Residence in Bracebridge and at her beloved Kahshe Lake in Muskoka. She was a very brave, feisty and strong willed woman who kept all of us on our toes until the very end. Her whole family and many friends will miss her greatly and will continue to share her stories, sense of humour and happy memories. She will always have a special place in our hearts.
