It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Linda Lafreniere, our dearest Gigi, surrounded by her caring family, at the age of 83.
Linda made Muskoka her home and the heart of her family life. Starting a legacy there that has now continued for 5 generations.
Feisty, strong-willed, and deeply loving, she lived life on her own terms—always serving others, often with country music playing and a heavy foot on the gas pedal.
Linda is survived by her children: Ken Edward (Susie), Angela McQuillan (Debbie), David Lafreniere (Cheryl), Tina Robinson (Clark), and Mark Lafreniere (Angie); her sister Mary Bloomfield; and her long-time companion Fred Widders. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Louis Lafreniere.
She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Rob (Steph), Jeff (Catherine), Alexa, Ashley (Grant), Kristen, Dominic, Damian, and Amber; her seven great-grandchildren; and her twin great-great grandsons.
Linda also leaves behind a wide circle of friends whose lives she touched with her warmth and wit.
For 24 years, Linda worked at The Pines in Bracebridge, where she formed lifelong connections through her dedication and compassion.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the East Wing staff at SMMH, especially Emma RN and Janet RN, for their extraordinary kindness and care.
Special thanks to Dr. Mason for helping bring Linda home from Newmarket to spend her final days close to loved ones, and to Dr. K. Jones for her many years of attentive and compassionate care.
In memory of Linda, the family would ask a donation to be made to Andy’s House - Hospice Muskoka in her name. A cause she often championed and was close to her heart. Click HERE to donate.
