DOUGLAS, Karen Michelle (nee Banks) - After a hard fought and courageous battle, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Lakeridge Hospital in Whitby on June 25, 2016 at the age of 43. An angel has been given her wings and called into the arms of her loving mother-in-law Jan (2011). Cherished and devoted wife of Jeffrey. Proud mother, teacher and best friend to her daughters Ryleigh and Camryn. Born in Elliot Lake to her wonderful parents Richard and Gisele on January 30, 1973. Dear sister of Allen, daughter-in-law of Ian and sister-in-law of Janine. Karen will forever live on in the hearts of her nephews Hunter and Macaulay, niece Allyson, extended family and many truly amazing friends. Her life has touched countless people helping others not only as a Respiratory Therapist at Toronto Western for more than 20 years but the ability to remain stoic and positive throughout her illness is an inspiration to us all. A heartfelt thank you to family, friends for their prayers, thoughts, visits and never ending love. At Karen's request cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held at Cavill-Turner Funeral Home, 215 Bay Street, Gravenhurst, ON. Friday July 8, 2016 from 6-9pm. Memorial Service will be held at Port Carling United Church , 1 Armstrong Point Road, Port Carling, ON. Saturday July 9 2016 at 11am. Memorial Donation made to the Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre,86 Colborne Street West. Oshawa, ON L1G 1L7
