THOMPSON Joyce Helena May (nee Winsby) - passed away peacefully at the Manor in Gravenhurst on April 2, 2022 in her 93rd year with friends by her side.

Born to English immigrant parents, James Winsby and Winifred (nee Haynes) in Toronto on May 31, 1929. Her dear brother, Artie (Arthur), was born the next year. Joyce and Artie were so close that one would think they were twins. Her heart was broken when Artie passed away on October 29, 2021. Joyce shared many fond memories of her childhood. She worked in the publishing department of Sears Canada for many years.

In 1957 she married Edward (Ted) Thompson. They later moved to Gravenhurst.

Joyce enjoyed activities at the Seniors Centre and the Music Club. She will be remembered for being seen walking from the Manor to Anne's Variety, McDonalds and Tim Hortons almost daily. She enjoyed having coffee and a muffin with her friends, Barry and Theresa Buker. Those who knew her well, knew she enjoyed buttertarts, candies, and chicken burgers.

Joyce is predeceased by her parents, brother, and husband. She had no children, but she always spoke fondly of her sister-in-law, Jan Winsby and nephews, Dan (Roberta) Winsby, Chris (Lori) Winsby, and niece, Kathy Breckenridge and their families.

Cremation has occurred and she will be laid to rest at Mickle Cemetery.

Thank you to all the staff at the Manor where Joyce made her home since 2016. Your kindness and care to her and everyone else residing there is noticed. Especially these past 2 years of protocols. Thank you.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Free Stuff 4 Daily Needs (Barry and Theresa Buker), and may be arranged through Cavill-Turner Funeral Home.
