John Orchard

ORCHARD, John Robert – Passed away peacefully on Thursday August 5, 2021, in the early morning, at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital. He was in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Stella (Grisdale) for 27 years. Cherished father of Fred (Leslie), and Todd (Lisa); step-father of the late Pam (Gord), the late Ian, and Stan (Cindy). Loving grandfather of Carly, Sarah, Morgan, Ben, and Sacha; step grandfather of Dennis, Jessica, Nicole, Michael and Colin. Proud step great grandfather of Levi, Bennett, and Stanley. John will be dearly missed by Laura, and many lifelong friends.

John’s work life began and ended at Weismiller Lumber in Bala. In between he spent 20 years at Superior Propane in Bala and Walkerton, and through which he made and maintained many friendships. In retirement he and Stella enjoyed road trips long and short, and John became a fixture on the front porch with his radio and always a cat and a dog close by. Despite hardships and illness and some heartache he felt he had a good and full life. What more can you ask?

In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In memory, donations may be made to Hospice Muskoka or to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 424 Bala and can be arranged by Cavill Funeral Home.
