II Gunner with the 4th Anti-tank Artillery Regiment, 5th Canadian Armoured Division (Part of the British 8th Army) (Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #302, Gravenhurst.) Passed away peacefully at the Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare, Bracebridge site on Wednesday July 04, 2012 in his 88th year. John Henry Middlebrooks beloved husband to Avis Margaret Middlebrooks (nee Fratson) of Leisureworld, Gravenhurst. Beloved father to Danny (Toni) Middlebrooks of California, Janice (John) Smith of Bracebridge, Rosalee (Paul) Schofield of Gravenhurst, Lori (Doug) Lippert of Barrie and Patti (Dave) Lyons of Huntsville. Beloved brother to Mildred (late Leo) Chambers of Gravenhurst. Much loved grandfather to Susan Smith, Kim (Eric) McKenzie both of Bracebridge, Derek (Rhonda) Schofield of Gravenhurst,Laura (Kurt) Robertson of Oakville, Emma and Kienan Lippert of Barrie, Rachael King of Huntsville and Annie Lyons of Oakville. Great grandfather to Kirsten, Kaitlyn, Todd, Amy, Paige and Charlotte. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cavill-Turner Funeral Home in Gravenhurst on Wednesday July 18, 2012 from 12 noon until 2:00 p. m. A Legion Service of Remembrance will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p. m. followed immediately by a memorial service to celebrate the life of John Henry Middlebrooks . Cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
