Humphreys, John Dodsley
March 3, 1938 - April 13, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our much-loved father,
grandfather and brother, JDH, on Wednesday, April 13.
Predeceased by his extraordinary wife of 47 years, Barbara. He is survived by his daughters
Nancy (Ian), Kathryn (Craig), and Beth (David), as well as his 8 grandchildren Maggie, Cate,
Adam, Ellie, Finn, Will, Ella and Kate. He is also survived by his sister Donna King of Oshawa.
John Humphreys lived a successful life in every measure. His many accomplishments have
been well documented throughout his full 84 years.
Equally important was his success with his family and friends. Long-time friends can attest to his
unending wit and their spirited dinner parties, golf games, fishing trips, bocce matches, Euchre
tournaments, lobster nights, vacations, many hockey games and time spent on “The Rock.”
Despite his struggles with modern technology which he denied, his proud announcement of
being able to do laundry in 2 countries was deemed quite an achievement.
His role as a father was his crowning glory. He took the opportunity to test an array of comedic
material on his 3 daughters each night around the dinner table. The endless laughter, ABBA
dance parties and a rare filet of beef kept all of us connected over the years at our treasured
lake spot. We will see you on the course, captaining the boat, solving a cryptic and in your
beautiful grandchildren.
