Jean Hudson

October 24, 1924 — March 14, 2018

Went to be with the Lord peacefully on March 14th, after a courageous and exhausting struggle with influenza-pneumonia in Toronto Western Hospital at the age of 93. Beloved wife of predeceased Alfred Hudson, (2005), and mother of dearly beloved son Thomas, (leukemia, age 10, 1958). She leaves behind her dearly beloved son Garry and her beloved little sister Vera Moore. Six older and five younger siblings predeceased her; James, Ross, Florence, Eva, Lewis, Chester, Gordon, Russell, Everet, Vern and Douglas. She is fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. We remember her courage in adversity, her loyalty to family and friends, and her very caring and generous nature. Jean was born in London, Ontario where her mother's family lived, was raised in North Bay, and moved to Toronto at age 17. She lived there for 37 years where she wed her husband of 63 years and raised her family. In 1978 they retired to Gravenhurst where she blossomed into her passion of becoming a watercolour artist. Her green thumb flourished as she grew a house full of luxurious plants in winter and multiple flower and vegetable gardens in summer, winning several prizes every year at the horticulture club. Jean excelled as a homemaker with succulent feasts on special holidays, punctuated with exquisite traditional desserts. She was also an excellent seamstress and very talented at several handicrafts. She had a vibrant faith in Christ, was active in church ministry and provided strong support for her husband as head of pastoral care at Calvary Baptist Church. Her funeral service will be held at the Cavill-Turner Funeral Home in Gravenhurst on Saturday, March 24th at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be held on Friday the 23rd from 7:00 to 9:00 pm., and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the destitute orphan's fund at Freedom Village of Canada. Messages of condolences will be gratefully received at www.cavillfuneralhome.com
