James Davidson

December 6, 1923 — October 12, 2014

DAVIDSON, James Cowan December 6, 1923-October 12, 2014 After a brief illness at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge. He was hard working and often had a joke for others during his almost 91 years on this earth.He leaves his children; Marilyn Davidson (Nash Soliman), John Davidson, and Patricia Kingshott (Randy). Jim was also blessed to have six grandchildren including; Maggie, Ashley, Adam, Michael (Sarah), Connie (Mark) and Shawn. Special great grandfather to Blake. Dear brother of Murray, Pat, Bill, Betty and Leo. Predeceased by his son Ray and siblings; Teresa, Fran and Bob. He was a WWII Veteran, having joined the Army and fought for the freedom that we enjoy today. Jim was a proud and active member of the 48th Highlanders, the Royal Canadian Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He was also an active and devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the Cavill-Turner Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 2 ~ 4 p.m. A Legion Service of Remembrance will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. followed by a visitation from 7-9 p.m. Prayers and Knights of Columbus service will take place Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Gravenhurst on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery, Gravenhurst. Light refreshments to follow at St. Paul's Hall. We extend our appreciation for the warm care provided by the staff at the Gravenhurst Manor and to the compassionate team at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital. Flowers will be graciously declined. Should you wish to honour Jim's life, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
