Harvey passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie on August 13th, 2024 at the age of 95 years.
Harvey is the beloved husband of Mabel Ruth Bradley (nee Goheen) and father to Annie Bradley. Harvey was predeceased by his son Mark Alan Bradley (2001) and his brother Clarence (Stella) Bradley. Doting grandfather to Jack Emmett Bradley, Uncle to Bruce (Liliana) Bradley, Harvey will be fondly remembered by his extended family, many cousins, nephews and nieces. An active member of the Lakeside United Community Church in Walker's Point, his legacy lives on in the students from his tenure as an elementary school teacher and of course his many years of teaching piano.
Harvey was the younger of two adopted sons of the family of Horace John and Florence (Pratt) Bradley at Walker's Point. They became charter members as teens of the Lakeside Church which was a Methodist Church. His parents were devout born again believers and faithfully had daily family devotions in their home. Harvey accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour at the Gravenhurst Salvation Army when he was 17 years old.
In 1951 his piano teacher, Mrs. Anderson, recommended him to the School Inspector to be hired as an itinerant music teacher. That's how he met his bride, Mable Ruth Goheen who was the teacher at the Housey's Rapid School. Ruth and Harvey were married on Sat, October 4, 1952 and last year celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary! Harvey taught music in rural schools for 21 years and his last 14 years as an elementary school teacher on the staff of Muskoka Falls Public School. Harvey held a B.A. degree with a major in music from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Bachelor of Education Degree from Laurentian University and also graduated from Hamilton Teachers College.
After retiring in June of 1986, Harvey continued to teach piano students up until the ripe old age of 90. He also served for 4 years as a Councillor for Muskoka Lakes Township and was the Secretary for the Gideons for many years. He played the organ for church services, weddings and funerals and at Sunday School. He was also the pianist for the Men's Breakfast for many years and undertook mentoring younger men in reading the scriptures where he made lasting friendships in this work of evangelism. Harvey enjoyed reading, gardening, boating and life in Walker's Point where he grew up, but dearest to his heart was his wife Ruth, Mark and Annie and others that he considered family.
