GREGORY CHARLES (SANDY) McDONALD passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Andy's House Hospice Muskoka in his 69th year on Monday October 14, 2024. Sandy is survived by his spouse of 30 years Sam McNicoll Pratt.
Sandy was predeceased by his father Gordon McDonald and his mother Isabelle McDonald (nee Hammond). Sandy is survived by his son David Schell Penwarden, his siblings Sandra Harding (Edgar), Jim McDonald, Allan McDonald (Kathryn), Corinne McDonald-Brown (Todd Batley). He was Uncle Sandy to nieces and nephews: Grant Harding, Stephanie Robson, Ashley McDonald, Cameron McDonald, Hillary Brown, Stephen Batley.
Sandy was always hard working. As a teenager, with brother Jim, he took over the Family Waste Disposal Business. In his working career he drove delivery truck for Brown's Beverages, Gravenhurst from 1976 to 2002. When Coca-Cola took over the operations of Brown's Beverages in 2002, Sandy went on to work for Coca-Cola, Barrie until he retired in 2017 at age 61.
In 2024, with great pride, he took on a new vocation working part-time as a Bartender at the Royal Canadian Legion, Bracebridge.
If you are thinking of Sandy, then you are likely smiling remembering his sense of humour and dry wit.
He enjoyed life to the fullest.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Andy's House, Port Carling for the amazing care he received.
A memorial service will be held at Cavill Funeral Home on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 1:00 pm. Donations to Andy's House - Hospice Muskoka in his honour are appreciated.
