Frederick George Anthony Brown May 4, 1939 - Aug 27, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Fred Brown at the age of 77, after a courageous 7 year battle with lung disease. He is survived, and will be dearly missed by his wife, Audrey (nee Donaldchuk), of 53 years; his three daughters, Karen Sheen (Reggie), Suzanne Farley (Mike) and Carolyn Brown (Ed Johnston), his sister Judy Kilpatrick (Jim) and his six grandchildren (his McGoos whom he adored), Matthew and Nicole Sheen, Andrew and Daniel Farley, and Adam and Lucas Johnston. Fred was born in Toronto, Ontario, in 1939, the first of two children born to Jean (nee Hamill) and Fred Brown. His leadership qualities emerged early; in his youth he was a high-ranking Boy Scout and at university he was president of his fraternity, Phi Kappa Sigma. He graduated in 1962, from the University of Toronto with a degree in Industrial Engineering, after which he began a 27-year career with IBM, where Fred rose through the ranks to hold several vice president positions. After leaving IBM, in 1989, he embarked on his second career as a minority partner at Northland Power, until his retirement in 1999. Fred and Audrey have been caring philanthropists. Fred remained active in his Muskoka community (Probus and Rotary) and valued his friendships throughout life. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7th, at 1pm at Trinity United Church in Gravenhurst, Ontario, followed by a reception at Muskoka Bay Club. Condolences and memories may be forwarded to www.cavillfuneralhome.com Fred's family wishes to recognize and thank the entire lung transplant team at Toronto General Hospital (and most especially Dr. Matthew Binnie) for its medical excellence and unfailing compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of choice are appreciated.
