Edith Hampson - White

Edith passed away peacefully at Castle Peak Retirement Residence on November 11,2021 in her 96th year.

Born on May 22, 1925, Edith’s loving spirit and generous heart could be felt by anyone she met. She always made a point of connecting with those around her. She had the ability to see the positive in people and life experiences, and did her best to do something kind for someone each day. Edith was known to constantly have plans with family and friends. She considered many friends family, especially members of the Eastern Star; an organization she lived for and belonged to for over 70 years.  Edith loved to travel and was always one for adventure. She travelled to many places around the world and always cherished the experiences through sharing photos and telling stories with others.

Edith adored her family and always made efforts to gather, give thanks, and be present in the gifts of laughter and love. Edith was a wonderful Grandmother and always made sure she spent quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

As a teacher, Edith was well respected in the community and loved her students immensely. Her students remember her fondly. She focused on teaching academics, but also life skills and core values that she believed would help her students thrive their entire lives. She always focused on how she could help and support others.  She was an example to so many, and a shining light to all who knew her. When you reflect on how you knew Edith, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is precious and short. She will be missed but she will live on in our hearts.

Edith was predeceased by three husbands: Budd Hampson, Thomas Medley, and Ivan White. She was the loving mother of Robert Hampson (Betty Ann), and Gordon Hampson (Donna). Cherished grandmother of Marion (Ben), Donald (Donna), Sandra (Dan), Scarlet, Rogan (Ashley), and Meghan (Mark). Great grandmother of Steffanie, Qwade, Jordan, Cory, Zachary, Sierra, Kailah, Elora, Maxwell, Edward, Ryker and Azaiah. Edith was also predeceased by her siblings, Arthur, Roy and Lottie Morrow.

Visitations will be held on Wednesday, November 17 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Cavill Funeral Home, Gravenhurst where the funeral will be held in the chapel on Thursday, November 18 at 11 AM. Internment to follow in Mickle Cemetery.
