Dorothy Joyce Penick, a cherished member of her community and beloved family matriarch, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024, at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge, Ontario. Joyce lived a life characterized by warmth, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to those she loved.
In her professional life, Joyce was a devoted housekeeper at a resort, where her strong work ethic and caring nature shone through. She was known for her attention to detail and her ability to create a welcoming environment for all guests. Her colleagues admired her for her kindness and sought her advice during difficult times, as she was truly an all-around good person.
Joyce was predeceased by her dear husband Tony in 2020. She was a loving mother to Steve (Debbie), Paul (late Lisa), and the late Tony (Trudy). Her legacy of love and guidance continued through her grandchildren, whom she adored: Justin (Alysha), Kristina (Justin Brownlee), Tony (Michelle), and Curtis. Additionally, she celebrated her role as a great grandmother to nine, who brought her immense joy and pride.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Joyce found happiness in tending to her gardens, which yielded fresh vegetables for her family to enjoy. Memories of summers spent camping and caring for chickens and horses are fondly reminisced by her family. Joyce’s interests did not end there; she also had a passion for reading and playing cards, always ready for a friendly game with family and friends.
