A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024, at Andy’s House Hospice, Port Carling just days after her 91st birthday.
Doreen was known her kind and sweet nature. She touched the lives of many with her loving demeanor and warm heart. Her friends and family will forever remember her as someone who always had a smile to share and a comforting word to offer.
In addition to her career as a bookkeeper, Doreen had a number of hobbies and interests that brought her joy throughout her life. She was an avid sports fanatic, particularly when it came to baseball and hockey. As a die-hard Toronto Maple Leaf fan, it was often said that she bled blue. Doreen’s enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and she could always be found cheering on her favourite team from the comfort of her Living room.
Beyond sports, Doreen had a mischievous side when it came to card games. An avid card player, she was known to add a dash of excitement by occasionally bending the rules in her favour. Although some may call it cheating, Doreen turned it into a playful tradition that brought laughter and joy during many friendly gatherings.
Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to their happiness and wellbeing. Doreen cherished every moment spent with her loved ones and created many precious memories together. She had a particular knack for nurturing house plants and had an undeniable green thumb. Her home flourished with beautiful foliage thanks to her care and attention.
Doreen was a beloved wife of the late Michael Samborski, and the late William “Bill” Thompson. Loving mother of Valerie Ann Pimentel (Alfredo), and Michael “David” Samborski (Rana). Doreen was a proud grandmother to Sheldon (Stephanie), Ashley (Matt), Sarah, Jessica (Rick), Michael (Sarah), and Jamie. Great grandmother of Jackson, Colton, Rowan, Griffin, Quinn, Jeremy, Joseph, Sophia, and Gabriella. She also embraced her second family, John Thompson (Patty), Pattie Thompson (Judy), Rusty Thomspon, and Terry Thomspon (Allyson) as her loving family. Her grandchildren, Christopher (Lalaine), Matthew (Eva Blumme), and Billy held a special place in her heart along with her great grandchildren Destiny, Nash Amara, and Jade. Doreen was the dear aunt to Josie Shelest, Billy Samborski, Marty Kelleher, Danny Kelleher, Tim Huffman, and Lisa Kelleher. She was predeceased by her sister Dorthy Kelleher. Doreen also adored her grandpuppies Cork, Barely, and Whisky.
