Dianne Fitchett

October 4, 1947 — February 19, 2017

Vivien "Dianne" Fitchett (nee Barnes) October 4, 1947 ~ February 19, 2017 Vivien "Dianne" Fitchett (nee Barnes) entered into rest at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge on Sunday, February 19, 2017 in her 70th year. She was met in heaven by her late husband, Kenneth Fitchett (2004), whom she married in October of 1967. Dianne was also greeted by her parents Gilbert and Myrtle Barnes. Dianne fought hard to stay with her children; Rhonda (Dave) Ruppert, Angie (Mike) Field and Darren all of Gravenhurst. Cherished grandmother to Brad Ruppert (Sierra Ballentyne), Kylee Ruppert and Kennedy Field. Coming from a family of 11, she leaves behind her sister Ruth (Ken) Scorizzi, Ellen Barnes, Glen (Linda) Barnes, Erel (Darlene) Barnes, and Bill (Rhonda) Barnes. Dianne was predeceased by her siblings; Nelda Parker, Wilma Strength, Elroy Barnes, Henry Barnes and John Barnes. Dianne was the proud aunt to many nieces and nephews including her "other daughter" Charlene Scorizzi (Kevin). Dianne grew up on the Narrows Road. In her married life, she moved about 2 km from her family home and raised her family and continued to help raise her grandchildren. Being close to family was very important to Dianne. Pool parties, Sunday family dinners, bird watching, drives at Walker's Point to see deer, enjoying the outdoors with camping, fishing, gardening and picking berries were things she loved to do. She especially enjoyed her time at her trailer at Inverness. She loved hosting holiday gatherings for family. Dianne worked for many years at the Muskoka Centre as a residential counsellor. She cared for and loved her clients as if they were her own children. She also worked at Pine Park and Trillium Lakeland District School Board as a custodian. She took great pride in her work and the friendships that she made. Mom, your physical presence has been taken away from us far too soon, but your spirit will always remain close to our hearts. Because of you, we know what courage, strength and unconditional love is all about. We are so proud of the fight you gave. Life will never be the same without you. You have given us what we need to move on. You have given us many many lovely memories. The family will receive friends at the Cavill-Turner Funeral Home in Gravenhurst on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of the Cavill-Turner Funeral Home on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Spring interment will take place at the Kilworthy Lutheran Cemetery in the Spring.
