HOCKIN, Debra (Debbie) Beth Cronin
Sept 9 1955 – Oct 7 2019
Debbie lost her 2-year battle with ALS on Monday, October 7, 2019. She was surrounded by her family.
Beloved wife of John Hockin, mother of Johnny, grandmother to Luna, Debbie was born in Edmonton, of Alberta farm stock. She Moved to Kelowna when she was 10. Ever the adventurer, she left home at 17 and moved to Hawaii. Two weeks after she arrived in Toronto at the age of 21, John Hockin met a lively girl in overalls, with pigtails and a quick wit. They were together for 42 years. She was the apple of his eye.
Debbie leaves her immediate family heartbroken – John, Johnny, Nina, Baby Luna, her brothers Jim and Dan Cronin and their families; husband John’s siblings and all the extended nephews and nieces on both sides of the family.
Debbie also leaves a large extended friendship group. They will find it hard to live without her wit, laughter and opinions.
Professionally Debbie was a very talented writer and designer, having designed and decorated the family home built in 2014. She was an active part of the family consulting business as a researcher and was the “finest editor I have ever known” according to her wordy consultant husband.
John, Debbie and their large bundle of family and friends spent over 4 joyous decades summering on Juniper Island where her love of music, games and laughter will always be remembered. Her heart was there. Her power, passion and humor will never be forgotten.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Trinity Anglican Church, Bala, ON. Memorial contributions to ALS Society greatly appreciated and may be arranged through Cavill Funeral Home. Personal condolences and memories may be shared at www.cavillfuneralome.com
