Charles Stables

Stables, Charles Gordon Ryan Leslie "Gord" 1927 ~ 2017 Gord Stables passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Gravenhurst. He will long be remembered by his extended family and good friends. Gord was born in Newcastle New Brunswick and made his way to Ontario in the 1950's. It is here where he met his beloved bride Shirley. They were together for over 65 years and recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Shortly after marrying, they took in their nephew Barry Morrison, then had sons Danny and Mark, and two more nephews, Paul and Tim Morrison rounded out the household in Toronto in the 1960's. Gord's career with Kraft Foods spanned over 35 years and eventually brought him back to New Brunswick where he was the "Big Cheese" for the Atlantic Provinces for a 20 year stretch. Upon retirement in 1987 Gord and Shirley retired to the good life in Muskoka. There they enjoyed extended family and welcomed 6 granddaughters into the family. Gord was also very involved in the community with the Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, and spent countless hours assisting with Church related activities. Gord was first and foremost a family man. He was a beloved Papa, Dad, husband and uncle. Gord is survived by his wife Shirley, sons Danny and Mark, daughter in law Dianne, nephews, Barry, Blaine and Tim Morrison, niece Shelley Reville, granddaughters Haley, Emma, Janelle, Ella, Alexa and Nyah, great nephews Dane, Christopher, Andrew and Mitchell, great nieces Alissa, Riley, and Lauren, great great nephews Liam and Hartley and great great nieces Alexandra,Reece and Macy. Gord was predeceased by nephews Hughie and Paul Morrison. The family received friends at the Cavill-Turner Funeral Home in Gravenhurst on Friday, November 10,2 017 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. with parish prayers being recited in the funeral home chapel on Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass was held at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Gravenhurst on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation followed. If so desired, donations in memory of Gord may be forwarded to the Alzheimer's Society of Muskoka. Messages of condolence may be left at www.cavillfuneralhome.com
