Bruce Stephenson

May 23, 1930 — November 2, 2018

Arthur Bruce Stephenson's heart stopped just after midnight, on Nov. 2 2018, despite excellent treatment from his doctors and nurses at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge. He leaves his wife, Jean Catherine (Caven) Stephenson; daughters Sandra Lyn Stephenson (Brendan Hewitt) and Tasha Diane Stephenson (Bruce Ashley, d. 2003); and three grand-children, Aran Arthur Caven-Hewitt, Leander (Tom) Aengus Caven Hewitt, and Kirianne Sage Ashley. His eldest daughter, Catherine Jane Stephenson predeceased him in 2005.

Bruce took a deep interest in people and all living things: from the lowest plant such as wintergreen, to the loftiest pine; from fish to waterfowl, songbirds, amphibians; furbearing animals to game animals, to mice and bears. His impact on people who worked and played with him throughout his life will last long after the shock of his death has settled.

Friends are invited to gather at Cavill- Turner Funeral Home, 215 - 1 Bay St., Gravenhurst, on Friday November 9, 2018, from 2-5pm for an informal sharing of thoughts and memories about Bruce.

Instead of flowers, memorial donations to support a charity in Bruce's name will be appreciated by the Stephenson family, as he contributed to several nature conservation and other charities himself. The family's suggestions include the Bruce or Trans-Canada trails, South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, VON, or any wildlife and habitat conservation group that works to preserve and re-establish a balanced natural order on this beautiful planet.
