Basil Lavoie

Basil S. Lavoie, January 26, 1940 ~ November 6, 2016. Gravenhurst, long-time Circulation manager for Thomson Newspapers, beginning with the Timmins Daily Press, and later taking on newspapers in Welland and Belleville, he retired after many years at the Orillia Daily Packet & Times. Basil was a steady supporter of the Salvation Army. He was pre-deceased by wife Gladys Phillips, and is survived by children Herb Gautreau of Yellowknife, Juliet Canning of Bracebridge and Marcel Gautreau of Gravenhurst. He will be honoured at a private family ceremony; donations to the Salvation Army in lieu of flowers. Arrangements entrusted to Cavill-Turner Funeral Home of Gravenhurst.
