Barbara "Yvonne" Nicholson (nee DuQuesnay)

November 10, 1934 - March 20, 2023 (age 88)

Passed away March 20, 2023 at Andy's House in Port Carling, Ontario. Beloved wife of Ron (John) Nicholson. Loving mother of Louann Nicholson (Lawrence), Tony Nicholson (Wendy) and Ed Nicholson.

Sister to Beverley Parker and Andrea Smidtas; predeceased by Patricia Powell and Richard DuQuesnay.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica to Roy and Violet DuQuesnay, Yvonne immigrated to Canada in 1955. Meeting Ron in 1957, they were married in February,1958 and recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. After residing in Brampton for 30 years, Yvonne and Ron retired to Muskoka in 1999, living in Walker's Point and Gravenhurst.

Yvonne was primarily a stay-at-home Mom, but in addition to raising 3 kids, she also juggled part-time work that included selling Tupperware, Avon and more. She loved to bake, sew, knit, crochet, and garden. She also ran a very successful cake decorating business in Brampton for many years and enjoyed card making in her retirement.

She and Ron enjoyed travelling throughout their married life, taking Caribbean cruises, visiting Hawaii, California, numerous other states and taking a month long Western Canada trip in retirement. They wintered in various parts of Florida for 10 years after they retired.

As per Yvonne's wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place through Cavill-Turner Funeral Home in Gravenhurst.
